Chris J. Suggs
16 year old nonprofit CEO, community leader, scholar, consultant, entrepreneur and changemaker.
Born and raised in Kinston, North Carolina, Christopher “Chris” J. Suggs strives to make a difference in his hometown.
Since a young age, Chris has been heavily involved in his community. From attending community board meetings with his mother, volunteering in street clean-up projects with his father, to making his voice heard at local government meetings with his aunt, he has always been that young person that everyone recognizes as a volunteer, leader, and one who advocates for his peers.
Chris is the Founder & CEO of Kinston Teens, Inc. – a nonprofit organization founded on the premise of empowering youth through service, leadership and civic engagement. On an individual level, and under the Kinston Teens organization, Chris has organized and led community beautification projects, voter registration drives, mentoring programs for elementary and middle school students, and award-winning youth leadership seminars.
Chris is also the Co-Founder & Development Director of Black Youth Network—a national network with the mission of connecting and empowering young African-American leaders and influencers who are making positive, meaningful contributions to our culture and society.
Chris has been dubbed as “one of 15 Superkids that are going to change the world” by TheRoot.com—and he works hard to live up to that title. Chris has worked on and been featured by platforms on the local, state, national and international levels, including: the Young Professionals of Lenoir County’s inaugural Emerging Leader Award; serving on the NC Center for Safer Schools Student Advisory Council; serving on Crisis Text Line’s Youth Advisory Council, Facebook’s inspirED Youth Advisory Board, and First Lady Michelle Obama’s Better Make Room Student Advisory Board; being recognized as a 2016 Nickelodeon HALO Awards Honoree; and serving as a 2016 Global Teen Leader through the Three Dot Dash Initiative.
Christopher is 16 years of age, and his birthday is June 3rd, 2000. He is currently a senior at Kinston High School, where he is an officer in the school’s Student Government Association. Chris is also dual-enrolled in online courses at Lenoir Community College, and will be completing high school in three years instead of four. He has always demonstrated high performance in his academic studies, and received the President’s Award for Academic Excellence signed by President Barack Obama upon completing elementary AND middle school.
Outside of Kinston Teens, Chris is a young entrepreneur who is sought-after as an award-winning public speaker, social media guru and youth leadership consultant.
