Holiday Gala a Success!
We're extremely grateful for all of our family, friends and community supporters who made our Holiday Gala the amazing event that it was! It was a great celebration of this year's accomplishments and what is to come in 2016!
KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Kinston Teens have only been around for a year, but they are making a big impact in their community.
On Tuesday night, Kinston Teens held a holiday gala and fundraiser.
9 On Your Side’s very own First Alert Meteorologist Dontae Jones emceed the event.
The organization was started by Christopher Suggs and his friends. Suggs says they wanted to show people that teens can help out in the community.
Kinston Mayor B.J. Murphy is proud of what these teens are doing.
“They have helped the city tremendously, because if nothing else they’ve lifted the spirits of the youth in this community. And they have also shown through their proactivism that it can be done, you can clean up the streets, that you can give back, you can get graffiti off the walls. We are so proud that that they have been so inspirational to the youth, but to the adults as well,” said Mayor B.J. Murphy.
Suggs is working to make sure Kinston Teens continues after he graduates in 2017.
