Kinston Teens is a leader in the fight against the Omicron variant
Kinston Teens has been working hard to help our community navigate the COVID-19 pandemic since March of 2020. As the highly transmissible Omicron variant spreads, we are working to make COVID-19 vaccinations and booster shots widely available to all who are eligible.
On Thursday, January 13, Kinston Teens will host two vaccination clinics in Kinston focused on driving up first dose vaccinations and booster shots. These events, taking place at Holloway Recreation Center and Kinston-Lenoir Public Library, are unique opportunities for the community to get vaccinated at familiar and accessible locations.
“We are excited to continue making the COVID-19 vaccines available to our community, and be on the frontlines helping Kinston navigate this deadly pandemic,” said Chasity Pate, coordinator of the organization’s COVID-19 response. “It is proven that vaccines and booster shots help prevent serious illness, death, and further mutations of the virus, and we want our neighbors to be protected.”
In addition to offering vaccinations and boosters, the events will also feature music, educational resources, and giveaways of masks and hand sanitizer while supplies last. The events will take place:
10 AM to 5 PM at Holloway Recreation Center, 101 North Myrtle Avenue, Kinston, NC 28501 in partnership with the City of Kinston. COVID-19 rapid and PCR tests will also be available at this location.
2 PM to 6 PM at Kinston-Lenoir Public Library, 510 North Queen Street, Kinston, NC 28501 in partnership with Neuse Regional Libraries.
Pfizer vaccines are available to anyone ages 5+ while Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are available to all adults 18+. Those who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine should get a booster five months after their last dose. Those who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should get a booster two months after their initial dose. Anyone ages 12 and older should receive a booster, and Kinston Teens encourages individuals to speak with a doctor, nurse or pharmacist about which booster is right for them.
