#DoingItForLenoir social media campaign
As a part of Kinston Teens founder Chris Suggs’s work with First Lady Michelle Obama’s Better Make Room campaign, the Kinston Teens organization has launched a social media campaign geared towards building excitement for college and recognizing community members that are positively impacting our county. Dubbed #DoingItForLenoir, the social media campaign will highlight individuals that attended and graduated from a Lenoir County Public Schools high school, attended and graduated from a four-year college or university, and are now using their degree to positively impact the Kinston and Lenoir County Community. Every Wednesday during the month of March, the individuals will be posted on the Kinston Teens Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages using the #DoingItForLenoir hashtag.
“I’m extremely excited about kicking this campaign off,” said Suggs. “As a young person, I know firsthand how important it is to have role models and mentors right here in my local community support me in my efforts to go to college. Through this campaign, we’re hoping to let all of the youth of Lenoir County know that going to and graduating from college is possible—and returning and investing in our local community makes it even more worthwhile.”
Students are encouraged to use the hashtag to share their college and career plans during the month of March to show how they are planning to make a difference in their personal lives, and in the lives of others in our county. Community members are also encouraged to use the hashtag to share their college and career success stories, and how they’ve made an impact in our local area.
You can follow the conversation on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook by using the hashtag #DoingItForLenoir. Additionally, you can subscribe to posts on the Kinston Teens social media accounts where the organization will share curated stories, images and videos of individuals who have demonstrated college and career success in our community.
