Kinston Teens to NYC!
TED is an annual event where some of the world's leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. "TED" stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. And in fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. Attendees have called it "the ultimate brain spa" and "a four-day journey into the future." The diverse audience — CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists — is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, and Bono.
Kinston Teens has been invited to attend TEDxTeen, an independently organized TED event focused on encouraging youth to find “simply irresistible” solutions to the complex issues we face every day. Speakers at this event will include a host of talented young people who include professional entertainers, computer scientists, philanthropists, and entrepeneurs.
This event will take place on Saturday, May 16 in New York City and Kinston Teens is ready to go! We plan on making this a memorable event for our organization, and are sure that this opportunity would further motivate our members into becoming productive citizens, and 21st century leaders – locally and globally.
For us to make this trip possible, we’re seeking the support of our friends, family, and wonderful community partners to assist us with the costs associated with travel, hotel accommodations, dining, and making this a fun and educational trip for our group.
To help with this process, we’ve set up a GoFundMe account for supporters to contribute online, at www.gofundme.com/kinstonteensnyc. Checks can also be made payable to “Kinston Teens, Inc.” and mailed to Kinston Teens at P.O. Box 2625, Kinston, NC 28502; or you can donate in person by going to Self-Help Credit Union in Kinston at 1910 W. Vernon Avenue, Kinston, NC 28504.
We thank you in advance for your support of our organization!
