Kinston Teens is proud to share that its founder and CEO, Chris Suggs, has been appointed by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper to the Governor’s Task Force for Safer Schools.

The Governor’s Task Force for Safer Schools was established in 2013 as the advisory body to the North Carolina Center for Safer Schools. The Task Force advises the Governor and the Center on policies and legislative actions regarding school safety. The Task Force is comprised by appointed stakeholders to include parents, students, teachers, school administrators, law enforcement, juvenile justice professionals and mental health professionals.

The Task Force has several working groups to include School Climate and Discipline, Mental Health, Substance Use, Physical Security and Emergency Preparedness, School Resource Officers, and Gang Intervention.

“I’m grateful to Governor Cooper for providing me with this opportunity to serve our state,” said Suggs. “The work of this Task Force and all of our local and state agencies to make our schools safer is more important now than ever. We must do whatever we can to prevent acts of violence in our schools, and ensure that our students, educators, and entire school communities are safe from harm.”
